Internships with the ALC
The ALC depends heavily on the incredible college interns that work with us. Paid internship opportunities include summer internships (June-September; full time: 35-40 hours/week and part time: 15-20 hours/week) and academic year internships (October-June, 7-10 hours/week). Summer 2009 Internship applications will be available in February 2009.

The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is currently hiring highly motivated, organized professionals for the following positions.
Grant Writer
The Asian Liver Center seeks a part-time temporary grant writer to craft several foundation grants for a burgeoning international initiative to reduce the worldwide burden of hepatitis B and liver cancer. They will work in conjunction with the Global Research Coordinator and the Executive Director.
The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is the first non-profit organization in the United States to address the high incidence of hepatitis B and liver cancer in Asians and Asian Americans. Founded in 1996, the center uses a three-pronged approach towards fighting hepatitis B through outreach and education, advoacy and research. Specifically, the Asian Liver Center spearheads educational outreach and advocacy efforts in the areas of hepatitis B and liver cancer prevention and treatment, serves as a resource for both the general public and health practitioners, and implements clinical and research programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Write proposals specifically targeted to foundations dealing with the international initiative
- Actively search out additional funding opportunities
- Write proposals to prospective individual, corporate, and pharmaceutical donors
- Maintain communication with prospective donors and funding agencies
Qualifications:
- BS/BA or preferred Master’s or doctoral degree in related field
- 1-2 years of successful grant writing experience, preferably dealing with infectious diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, malaria)
- Formal experience with technical scientific writing
- Exceptional communications and writing skills
- Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Internet applications).
- Strong organizational skills, high level of motivation
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
